Additional Dallas Mavericks Info

The Dallas Mavericks (aka the “Mavs”) were founded in 1980 and, like most expansion teams, struggled in their first few seasons in the NBA. Dallas posted its first winning season and gained a playoff appearance in its fourth year, behind young stars Mark Aguirre, Derek Harper, and Rolando Blackman. The team continued to infuse its roster with talent through savvy draft choices, and qualified for post-season play in 5 consecutive years from 1984 to 1988. By 1990, many of the team’s star players had left and the Dallas Mavericks fell into a prolonged slump.

Dallas Mavericks Ticket Holders saw the team turnaround in 1998 with the arrival of point guard Steve Nash and forward Dirk Nowitzki. The Dallas Mavericks trotted out high-powered offenses led by Nash, Nowitzki, and sharpshooter Michael Finley. The Mavericks were routinely one of the top teams in the Western Conference in the first decade of the 21st century, and despite Nash’s having left Dallas in 2004, the Mavs advanced to the first NBA finals berth in team history in 2006, but lost to the Miami Heat in 6 games.

In 2011, the Dallas Mavericks again advanced to the NBA finals, where this time they defeated the Miami Heat to capture their first NBA championship. Unfortunately, top talent started exiting the team the following season, which resulted in less success for the team as the decade drew on.

Despite spotty play in recent years, Dallas Mavericks Ticket Holders support their team wholeheartedly. The team holds the record for the longest-running sellout streak in North American major league sports, selling out 704 consecutive games at their home area, American Airlines Center. However, Dallas Mavericks fans can always find tickets at Golden Tickets.
